Newly-coined words from ‘The King 2 Hearts’

As MBC hit “The King 2 Hearts” dominates in the ratings, fans have coined brand new words to express their affection for the drama.

“King-Gal” is a mixed term from “The King 2 Hearts” and its famous online community “DC Inside Gallery.” “The King’s Day” refers to the days the drama broadcasts, and “King-morning” is a way of greeting each other among the fans in “King-Gal.”

Fans gave Ha Ji-won a nickname, “Ha-gelina” mixing Ha Ji-won with American action star Angelina Jolie. They also call Lee Seung-gi “Seung-lelujah” to highly praise him.

Other than coining a new words and giving affectionate names for the leading actor and actress, fans are exchanging composite photos and make parodies related to the contents from the drama.

Kim Jong-hak production stated regarding this social syndrome. “The drama has been a great success due to the harmonization between the actors and the production teams. We’re looking forward to seeing more creative and reasonable supports from our fans.”

'더킹 투하츠'는 지난 달 첫 회 방송부터 시청률 1위를 차지했다. '더킹 투하츠'를 즐겨 보는 네티즌들은 다양한 방법으로 드라마에 대한 애정을 드러내고 있다.

특히 '킹갤', '킹요일', '킹모닝', '하죨리나', '승렐루야'등의 신조어가 만들어졌다.

'킹갤'은 '더킹 투하츠'의 킹과 온라인 커뮤니티 디시인사이드 갤러리의 줄임말이다. 또 '킹요일'은 드라마가 방송되는 요일, '킹모닝'은 인사 방법, '하죨리나', '승렐루야'는 배우들을 칭찬하는 신조어다.

이외에도 주연인 하지원과 이승기를 소재로 한 다양한 패러디물과 합성 사진이 만들어져 뜨거운 관심을 입증하고 있다.

제작사 김종학프로덕션 측은 "'더킹 투하츠'는 주연배우들의 호연과 홍진아 작가-이재규PD의 궁합이 멋지게 어우러져 관심을 받는 것 같다"며 "앞으로도 독특하고 이유 있는 '더킹 투하츠'만의 신드롬이 양산될 것으로 기대한다"고 전했다.
