QM3
AsiaToday reporter Choi Sung-rok = Renault Samsung has set big goals for this year after successfully wrapping up its revival plan last year.

According to the company on the 30th, the QM3 will have a positive impact on other cars in turning around sales this year. The company previously offered 1,000 units of the QM3 as a initial sale last month, and they sold out in just seven minutes.

Renault Samsung is expected to experience increase in domestic sales with its new family look starting with a partial change of the QM5 as well as the launch of SM5 diesel in the second half of this year.

QM3 is being popular with its soft yet well-balanced exterior design and driver-oriented interior styling. One of its greatest strength is its fuel efficiency. The car gets 18.5 kilometers per liter with European diesel engine.

Despite being an imported car, where tariffs are additionally imposed, the QM3‘s price competitiveness is driving its popularity. It is priced at shocking 22.5 million won. In addition, the price for QM3 parts is 85 percent of the cost parts for the QM5, securing repair cost competitiveness that was one of import customers’ biggest worries.

SM3 Z.E.
Renault Samsung‘s another important competitiveness is electric vehicles (EV).

The company aims to raise EV market share to 60 percent this year. The SM3 Z.E. accounted for 58 percent of the total, or 453 units of the 780 EVs sold in Korea.

Renault Samsung is maintaining its leading presence in the domestic EV market with its differentiated technology application and business model development. The company has the patented Chameleon charging system which allows users to take advantage of both fast and slow chargers with a single charging inlet and has applied the unique battery exchange system for the first time in Korea. It also has 120 after-sale networks only for electric cars nationwide.

Renault Samsung is putting much efforts to seize taxi market by opening after-sale shops only for taxis, and communication program for taxi drivers.

The after-sale shops for taxis is Renault Samsung‘s first action to reach the taxi market. The shops are expected to play a key role in creating services and attracting new customers in the taxi market. Also, the company’s plan to increase productivity at Busan plant starting with production of the new Nissan Rogue which will be officially exported in the second half of this year, is expected to bring production stabilization and reduction of fixed costs.
