AsiaToday reporter Choi Sung-rok = GM Korea Co. started taking pre-orders for Chevrolet Malibu diesel on the 3rd prior to its release on the 6th.
Malibu diesel comes with 2.0 diesel engine developed by GM Powertrain Europe and manufactured by German manufacturer Opel, and a second-generation six-speed automatic transmission made by Aisin Seiki Co..
President Sergio Rocha said, "Malibu diesel is a new car that will change the dynamics of diesel car market which is dominated by European imported models."
Malibu diesel has a direct-fuel injection 2.0 liter turbo engine tuned to give maximum output of 156 hp and maximum torque of 35.8kg/m with fuel efficiency standing at 13.3 kilometers per liter.
GM Korea said, "Malibu diesel will be launched in two trims priced between 20 million and 30 million won, which is half the price of imported diesel models."
Meanwhile, GM Korea will hold Malibu diesel launch event on March 6. The company will live stream the event, which will be available to watch on computers, laptops and mobile devices in real-time.
The event will be live streamed on Chevrolet's website (www.chevrolet.co.kr/malibudiesellive/index.jsp) from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. It will be also available on GM Korea blog (blog.gm-korea.co.kr), Facebook (www.facebook.com/chevroletkorea), Africa TV and Ustream.
