According to Renault Samsung on the 28th, the company plans to import 2,000 units of QM3 small SUVs from a plant in Spain this month.
This is the first time that QM3 is coming to the domestic market on a large scale.
From January to March, the company imported nearly 1,000 units of QM3, which accounts for only 5 percent of the goal amount set this year. Previously, Renault Samsung decided to sell more than 20,000 units of QM3 in the domestic market this year.
If more than 2,000 units are imported monthly, Renault Samsung‘s sales is expected to increase significantly as well.
On the other hand, Ssangyong Motor is also gearing up to shed some of its negative legacies and enter a new era of growth by announcing its integrated brand identity ’LUV Korando‘ early this month.
The Korando, which originated from the phrase “Koreans can do,” was launched in March 1983 and has the longest history of any Korean car brand.
The models under the Korando brand were expanded to ’Korando C‘, ’Korando Sports‘, ’Korando Turismo‘, and more. Last year, the Korando sold 107,706 units, which accounts for 75% of total sales of Ssangyong Motor.
As these two companies are gearing up to boost sales, interest is on the change of rankings in the domestic market.
Back in March, Ssangyong Motor sold 5,850 units at home, up 6% compared with previous month of February.
Renault Samsung sold 5,588 units in the same period, up 15.9% compared with February.
Considering that there was a gap of nearly 700 units in February between the two companies, their sales difference is reducing rapidly.
