‘Healing Camp’ Recap: Lee Hyori once was threatened by political authority

Lee Hyori said on SBS’ “Healing Camp,” aired on April 23 that her agency once received a threatening phone call from political authority to stop her from speaking out politically. Not afraid, the president of her agency answered that he had wanted the same thing happened and asked them to stop her instead, according to Lee Hyori.

She then answered to the question why she kept on making political statements that she only had acted on what she had believed was right. Lee Hyori said that when she had started taking interest on animals’ right, she realized that there were so many problems which could not be solved without reforming the political and legal systems.

Finally Lee Hyori said that her aspiration was to use her fame and publicity on doing the right things for others.

이효리는 23일 방송된 SBS '힐링캠프 기쁘지 아니한가'에서 "정치적 발언으로 협박 전화를 받은 적 있다"며 "회사에 '이효리 입조심시켜라'는 전화가 온 적 있다"고 말했다.

전화를 받은 소속사 대표는 "저도 그러고 싶다. 혹시 만나면 입조심 하라고 얘기해달라"고 재치있게 응수했다는 후문.
 
이효리는 소신 발언을 멈추지 않는 이유에 대해 "그것이 옳다고 생각하니까. 한순간에 그치는 게 아니라 동물 문제에 관심을 두다 보니 정치적, 법적 제도 없이는 해결될 수 없는 문제더라"고 생각을 밝혔다.
 
이효리는 또 "제가 연예인이고 영향력 있는 사람이니 만큼 그 영향력을 좋은 일에 함께 활용하고 싶다"고 덧붙였다.
